2nd place overall in World Inline Cup for Ana Odlazek

24. september 2016

As a first Slovenian to get on podium on overall classificaion of World Inline Cup, Ana Odlazek stepped on 2nd step on the award ceremony after Berlin marathon. Her performances during the season were consistent enough to put her ahead of the 3rd place, but not perfect enough to get close to 1st place. However 2nd place in general classification of World Inline Cup for Ana Odlazek is achievement nobody in Slovenia dared to dream before start of the 2016 season. All club members and supporters are very proud of Ana's achievement which puts Slovenia high on inline speed skating map.

Before the big race in Berlin all top5 positions except 1st place were to gamble. With over 5000 competitors on start of the race and over 100 professional skaters on the starting line anything can go wrong in one way or another. Ana decided to race defensively and to hold her at that moment 3rd place and not to attack as she did on all previous World Cup races. The tactics played out nicely as she finished infront of all her closest rivals and even gained a place. But tactics also costed her of much better result at the last race, as she did not follow major attacks, although she did have the power and stamina.

On this place we would like to thank our club's sponsors for the unlimited support that Ana has received in 2016: official Bont distributor for Slovenia Bont.si, Press agency MOREL for the media coverage and Vzajemna for insurance, just to name the few most important.
